Dream11’s Parent Company Forays into Sports Live-streaming Business with NBA Deal

Dream11’s parent company Sporta Technologies is launching live streaming of National Basketball Association (NBA) matches in India through its multi-sport app FanCode.

Dream11’s parent company Sporta Technologies Private Limited (earlier known as Dream11 Fantasy Private Limited) is launching live streaming of National Basketball Association (NBA) matches in India through its multi-sport app FanCode.

FanCode is a multi-sport aggregator. It offers live matches and scores, news and fantasy sports guides, among other related services, to its users.

With FanCode, Sporta Technologies got into Over the top (OTT) media service. OTT allows direct streaming of media over the internet, while bypassing traditional distribution channels like cable, broadcasting and satellite television platforms.

By doing so, FanCode is now competing with multi-billion-dollar OTT platforms such as Hotstar and Sony Liv that live stream sports like cricket, football, badminton, eSports, Formula1, Tennis, Kabaddi, and Swimming.

Sporta Technologies’ FanCode has partnered with NBA to livestream the league’s games and programming to its fans in India.

Now NBA fans can access select games from the league’s 2019-2020 season through FanCode’s live-streaming and on-demand features. The live games available will include postseason NBA Playoffs and NBA Finals.

NBA partnered with Sony to broadcast the league’s game in India. The league also recently held two pre-season games in Mumbai for the first time ever. Adam Silver, the NBA’s commissioner expressed interest in setting up a professional Indian Basketball League, during his visit to Mumbai.

FanCode is owned by Sporta Technologies, which also owns the fantasy sports giant Dream11. FanCode claims to have 10 million app installs. It covers sports like PKL Kabaddi, football, Indian Cricket, ICC World Cup, IPL, NBA and fantasy sports like Dream11, MyTeam11, and MPL. The app offers a 100% Ad-free experience.

FanCode will livestream the same games that will be available on Dream11 platform for fantasy gaming. Dream 11 is the first Indian gaming company to enter the ‘Unicorn Club and the company is currently valued at over a billion dollars’.
