PUBG Corporation announced on Thursday that PUBG Mobile will return to India in a new Avatar.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or PUBG was banned in India this September, with 116 other apps, by the Information and Technology ministry in India. Access to the game was discontinued for the users in the country on October 30th, with an announcement made by the company on their Facebook page that said, “Tencent Games will terminate all service and access for users in India to PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG MOBILE Lite (together, “PUBG Mobile”) on October 30, 2020. The rights to publish PUBG MOBILE in India will be returned to the owner of the PUBG intellectual property.”

The South Korean gaming company has planned to reenter the Indian market with a new game, PUBG Mobile India. The new game has been designed especially for users in the Indian market, maximizing security for the players and adhering to regulations in the country. PUBG announced that regular audits will be conducted of the storage systems that store personal data of Indian users to ensure that user data is safe, as per a report in Gadgets 3600 by NDTV.

The release date of the new PUBG game has not yet been shared by PUBG Corporation. Their parent company KRAFTON also plans to invest $100 million in India to boost the video game, esports, IT, and entertainment ecosystems in the country, as per a report in TechCrunch.

India was one of the largest consumers of PUBG Mobile before being banned. The company also plans to open an office in the country and hire more than 100 employees.
