My Ultimate Goal is to Play for India, reveals Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been a regular household name in the domestic circuit of Indian cricket. He shot to fame and prominence with his Indian Premier League stints with Kolkata Knight Riders and more importantly with the four-time champions, Mumbai Indians. Now, the Mumbai Ranji Team skipper has earned a call from the India A squad which will be touring New Zealand in the near future.

However, he wants to focus on his dream, which is to play for India. Despite producing so many runs season after season, Suryakumar has not received a call from the senior Indian cricket team.

"Yes, my ultimate goal is to play for India. However, at the same time, you've got to stay in the present. You've got to follow your process; you just can't think of going there. If you do the small things right, which I've been doing lately, that (national team selection) will automatically come," Suryakumar said as reported by The Times of India.

"It's a little difficult, because at the back of my mind, I keep thinking that I've got to play for India. However, at the end, I have to stay in the present. If it (the national call) has to come, it will come automatically."

The 29-year old has scored 4920 runs in 73 first class matches and 2311 in 88 List A matches and his Indian Premier League performances cannot be overlooked as well. Recently, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh too expressed his discontent on Twitter so as to why Suryakumar is not getting a call up from the Indian cricket team despite scoring so many runs over the years.

However, Suryakumar is not perturbed with these thoughts and at this moment he just wants to focus on the upcoming Ranji game against Railways and on the New Zealand tour.

"The New Zealand series is in my mind but keeping that aside, currently my full focus is on this (Ranji) game, which is more important. I'm taking it the other way, looking at it positively. That time (seven years) is gone now. I can't think about that. I'm focusing on what's in my hand currently," Suryakumar added.

"I can't miss my process and routines which I've been following. I'm really happy that when I meet people off the field, they tell me that they're thinking about me. It's a really positive sign and that motivates me as well."
