Pakistan Super League winner 2020
The 5th edition of the Pakistan Super League is set to kickstart from 20th February and the Pakistani cricket fans and several other fans across the globe cannot contain their excitement.
Pakistan Cricket Board officials have finally convinced the stakeholders to host the tournament in their country itself and the fans are already delirious about this fact. However, in the last couple of seasons, a lot of matches of this thrilling league have been conducted in Pakistan. The buzz around is expected to go beyond limits as one can be rest assured, the stadiums are going to be packed and stacked. Six teams - Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans, will battle it out for the trophy for over a period of a month. So, who do you think will lift the trophy on 22 March? Let’s debate those answers but hey, don’t get bored too quickly with the first half of this piece because if I don’t take you through the process properly, you will miss out on winning those cash by the end of the tournament and I am pretty sure, you don’t want that to happen. Who is going to win the Pakistan Super League?
Peshawar Zalmi were the runners up in the last two seasons of the Pakistan Super League and winning the title once in four years, they are the absolute hot-favourites to win the trophy this year. They have two of the best players of the league in their ranks in the form of Kamral Akmal and Wahab Riaz, who are the highest run getter (1286 runs) and highest wicket taker (65 wickets) respectively. They also will boast the likes of the dangerous Tom Banton, Shoaib Malik, Kireon Pollard, Darren Sammy and Imam ul Haq in this forthcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League. Can you imagine having that of firepower?
Who is going to be the runners up of Pakistan Super League?
With a success rate of 61.90, Quetta Gladiators are also one of the best teams of the tournament along with the Zalmi. They too have won one title and have featured in three finals. Guess what, there has not been a final where either of these two sides have not featured. However, they are the defending champions and they will come out all guns blazing to retain their title. The likes of Shane Watson, who was the named as the player of the tournament in the previous season of the Pakistan Super League, Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal, Jason Roy, who is one of the prolific hitters in T20 cricket, Tymal Mills and Sarfaraz Ahmed (the skipper) will be present in their squad. The 16-year old pace sensation Naseem Shah will also feature for the Gladiators in this edition of the Pakistan Super League. My bet is on Quetta to reach the final as they have done quite easily in the previous seasons of this T20 competition.
Which are the other two teams who will make it to the playoffs?
If one of the sides will count on the new-age of Pakistan Cricket, the other will bank on some serious experience. Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans are the two teams that are likely to end up finishing in third and fourth place on the points table. While Karachi Kings will host the magnificent Babar Azam and Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mohammad Rizwan and Chadwick Walton, Multan Sultan will have the opportunity to depend on veterans like Mohammad Irfan, Shahid Afridi, James Vince, Junaid Khan, Imran Tahir, Moeen Ali, Shaan Masood and Rilee Rossouw. What fascinating stuff are we awaiting! Can’t the tournament start already?
