The 20th edition of the T20 Blast is underway from May 25, and it's time for match number ten between Surrey and Glamorgan. The match will be played at the Kennington Oval in London and will commence from 11 PM IST on Friday, May 27. Glamorgan defeated Sussex by seven wickets to win their series opener, while Friday's match against Glamorgan will be Surrey's first of the Vitality Blast 2022.
In the last season, both Surrey and Glamorgan had failed to qualify for the quarter-finals. Surrey had finished fifth in South Group, winning just six out of their 14 matches. Glamorgan could manage only three wins from their 14 league matches and ended their 2021 campaign at the bottom of the 9-team South Group.
In the Vitality Blast 2022, Glamorgan are currently occupying the second spot, while Surrey, who are yet to play a match, are sitting on the fourth spot in the South Group points table. As we gear up for the ninth match, I have brought you the best three betting tips from the SUR vs GLA match 9 head-to-head encounter.
Mentioned below is the top team bet from the SUR vs GLA head-to-head contest.
Glamorgan registered a thumping 7-wicket win with seven balls to spare against Sussex but they are going to face a tough challenge against a strong Surrey side. The last five matches between the two sides have seen Surrey get the better of Glamorgan four times. The one match which Glamorgan won was by a run. Surrey, on the other hand, have always come up with convincing performances against Glamorgan. They defeated Surrey by five wickets (10 balls remaining) in 2021, in 2019 a 7-wicket win with 6-ball remaining came for Surrey. In the other match during the same year, Surrey defeated Glamorgan by 97 runs.
Thursday's win for Glamorgan was their first after four matches in the Vitality Blast. The David Lloyd-led side will now be up against a team which has the likes of Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Jason Roy, Chris Jordan, Sam and Tom Curran wearing its outfit. Players like Pollard, Narine, and Jordan are fresh from IPL and will be raring to make their presence felt in the tournament.
On the flip side, Glamorgan have Australians Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser are their two biggest names.
Also, Surrey have a massive experience of playing as many as 111 T20 games at the Kennington Oval. The side have won 58 games at the venue and lost 47. They have also won three (including final two matches of 2021 season) out of their last five T20 matches and look clear favourites to dispose of Glamorgan in their opening encounter. If you feel the same, head over to Pari Match to grab the odds of 1.42 and place your bet on Surrey from the SUR vs GLA head-to-head encounter.
Sam Curran and Marnus Labuschagne are my top two player betting tips for the SUR vs GLA ninth match. Have a look at it for reaping the best returns.
Sam Curran did not enter the IPL 2022 mega auction to focus on his rehabilitation. The talented all-rounder announced his comeback with first-class matches for Surrey. The right-hander made an impact straightaway, scoring 80 and 33 in his first outing. A scored a fifty each in his following three innings as well.
Curran last batted in a T20 match in September 2021 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2021. He did play a T20 match against Sri Lanka Cricket Development XI on Wednesday but did not get a chance to bat as Surrey won the match by 9 wickets.
But lack of game time in T20 cricket will hardly bother a player of Sam Curran's caliber. Curran played four matches for Surrey in the Vitality Blast 2021 but hit headlines with an unbeaten 72-run knock off just 36 balls which helped Surrey gun down 188 in just 16 overs. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo and Suresh Raina has only given him more exposure and improved his T20 game.
Overall, the 23-year-old has played 110 T20 games to score 1236 runs at an average of 20.60. Sam Curran has six fifty to his name in the T20 format. Against a not very well recognised and dreadful Glamorgan bowling attack, Sam Curran should find it very easy to score over 16.5 runs. If you feel the same, proceed to Pari Match and pick the odds of 1.87 for Sam Curran to score over 26.5 runs from the SUR vs GLA head-to-head encounter.
Australian international Marnus Labuschagne is a star in the red-ball format. The 27-year-old is also a regular in Australia's ODI squad but when it comes to T20 cricket his abilities in the format are often questioned. The right-hander has long wanted to be a part of IPL but he went unsold during the mega auctions for the 2022 season of the Indian T20 league.
However, like any hardworking cricketer, Marnus Labuschagne is giving it his all to make a name for himself in the T20 circuit and probably a place in Australia's T20I squad. With the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia fast approaching, Labuschagne will try to walk an extra yard now.
In the opening match of Glamorgan against Sussex, the star batsman scored 41 off 30 to help his team chase 151 with 7 wickets and 7 balls remaining. During the 2021 season, he amassed 390 runs - the most by a Glamorgan batsman - at a staggering average of 55.71 in eight matches.
The South Africa-born has played only one T20I match for Australia but overall, he has featured in 27 T20 matches to score 709 runs at an average of 29.54. Marnus Labuschagne has entered the Vitality Blast 2022 on the back of a few good innings in the County Championship. He is well aware of the English conditions and is looking set to play another match-defining knock for Glamorgan.
Scoring over 25.5 runs should not at all be a problem for Marnus Labuschagne. Our affiliate partner Pari Match is offering the odds of 1.87 for the same. So waste no time and head to the Pari Match website to place your bet on Marnus Labuschagne from the SUR vs GLA head-to-head encounter.
