Based in Sweden, LeoVegas is one of the most popular online casinos in Europe and is open to Indian players.
It has built up a vast offering of casino and live casino games including hundreds of Slots, Jackpot Games, and table favourites like Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat - with many different variants available.
Recently LeoVegas started to offer betting on over 25 sports, including IPL cricket, so it's becoming a solid all-rounder in the online gambling space.
But is it a good option? Do we think LeoVegas is a scam? Read on to find out what we like about LeoVegas, what could be improved, and whether we think LeoVegas is a scam or not.
LeoVegas has two great welcome offers for all new players to choose from, depending on whether you prefer sports or want to try casino gaming.
How it works:
The easiest ways to deposit are with e-wallets like Skrill, Neteller, MuchBetter, and EcoPayz.
Or with a pre-paid AstroPay Card. Visa, Mastercard and online bank transfers are also good options, but some Indians will find transactions blocked by their banks.
LeoVegas advises that customers of some banks may encounter issues with withdrawing winnings to their accounts and recommends cashing out funds via another payment method.
Those banks are AXIS Bank India, HDFC Bank, IDBI BANK, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., Standard Chartered Bank, and Bank of America.
Making deposits is very simple. Head to the Deposit page, choose your deposit method and then the deposit amount. The minimum deposit amount is ₹1,000.
If you are depositing for the first time, you will need to register a deposit method. Simply follow the on-screen instructions. Your data is securely protected, so you can be comfortable in sharing your payment details with the system.
Withdrawals work in a similar way - select 'Withdraw', choose the withdrawal method and amount, and you're done!
Just a note - make sure you are using your personal payment details when funding your account. Using someone else's e-wallet account or card - even with their permission - is a breach of the terms and you will get your account closed.
LeoVegas is new to sports betting but has made an impressive start. There are over 25 sports that you can bet on, including cricket, chess, esports, football, golf, and horse racing.
Naturally, Indian bettors will want to know about the IPL betting. The good news is that it is comprehensive with many match markets and outright bets.
There is in-play betting too, and a neat feature is that LeoVegas highlights events that it is running an offer on.
We analysed the odds with other bookmakers and found LeoVegas to be fairly good. Some events were tighter than their rivals, and in-play odds could be better, but like most bookmakers, they were top-price on some markets, and poor on others.
Our advice, as always, is to make sure you get the best odds every time you place a bet, and that requires a few different accounts.
Don't settle for 8.00 when you can get 10.00 at another bookie, just because it's easier and you don't have an account at the other firm.
We expect the LeoVegas sports offering to continue to improve. We have seen how the casino side of the company has grown to be one of the best around, and we anticipate similar progress for the sports vertical.
Hopefully, that will mean more sports for Indian customers - we'd like to see kabaddi betting and local horse racing.
Similarly, we hope LeoVegas can secure rights to stream live sports too. It would be great to place a bet and then watch the action live.
Unfortunately, this facility is limited now - we could only find dog racing - but we are sure that will change in the future as the company recognises the demand for live streaming.
LeoVegas has probably the most impressive Slot game offering of any casino open to Indian players. There are well over 1,000 to choose from, with more added all the time.
Put simply - you won't get bored playing Slots at LeoVegas. Hot titles include Book of Dead, Book of Oz, Immortal Romance, Starburst, Dead Wood, and Troll Hunters.
Plus, play daily Jackpot Slots and pooled jackpot Slots, where players at other participating casinos boost the prize pools.
We have just played the popular Mega Moolah Slot, and the jackpot was up to a crazy ₹248,169,960! Other big payout Slots are Paws of Fury, Empire Fortune, and Super Spinner Bar-X.
Including Slots, LeoVegas has over 2,000 different casino games. That's immense by anyone's standards.
Of course, you will find many variants of casino classics like Roulette, Blackjack, Baccarat, Punto Banco, Dragon Tiger, and Joker Poker.
But we were impressed that we could find local games like Teen Patti, Andar Bahar, and other popular, but hard to find, games, like Sic Bo.
Another thing we really like is the LeoVegas interface. Tabs make it easy to find the sort of game you want, and you can select tabs like 'Newest Games' and 'Top Games'.
That's great for discovering new games and checking out what other players are enjoying. An easy search filter puts the choice of thousands of games at your fingertips. Find your favourite in seconds.
We love Live Casinos. For those players who have concerns about playing games run by software, we can see why live games can be more appealing as you see the action unfold right in front of you.
LeoVegas excels in this field. We counted over 150 Live Casino games, which is one of the most extensive ranges online.
There is a remarkable choice of game variants. For example, there were 35 types of Blackjack available at the time of writing, including Celebrity Blackjack Party, Infinite Blackjack, and VIP games.
Those who want to try something different will love the live game shows - play Monopoly Live, Live Lightning Dice, Live Lightning Roulette, Deal or No Deal Live, Football Studio, and much more.
Enjoy Teen Patti? Play it live with real dealers in high-definition video and audio, as well as Live Andar Bahar.
We can't fault the LeoVegas Live Casino. It is a perfect blend of classic games and new, innovative games and versions that add more spice and new excitement every round.
Any betting site can offer an enticing welcome bonus, but we want to see great promotions for regular players too. After all, betting sites should have to work hard to keep you betting and playing with them when there is now such a wide choice of alternatives.
This is one area where LeoVegas could improve. Promos are running all the time, but we didn't see a massive choice, and many were what we call 'standard offers' - available at most betting sites.
It would have been good to see some different, exciting promotions to complement a brand that is so good in so many other ways.
However, it is not all bad news! For sports fans, there are regular weekly Free Bets and Profit Boosts on different sports during the year. As we write this, there are offers on esports, tennis and football.
These work by giving customers a profit boost or Free Bet for every five qualifying bets you place, plus leader boards where customers earn points for winning bets. The top 20 players each month get up cash prizes of up to ₹100,000!
Casino fans can choose from tournament-style promos that run on different Slot games every month. Hit prizes on the reel of selected Slots during the week to get points and rise up the leader boards.
These tournament offers have total prize pools of ₹500,000-₹1,000,000 - definitely worth playing!
The VIP program is a monthly prize draw. The more you bet and play, the higher your VIP level, and the more tickets you get. Prizes include Apple products, VIP event experiences, and more gifts to choose from the prize shop.
Fancy the cash equivalent instead? You can opt for the cash value too.
LeoVegas is well-known for its mobile casino and has won multiple awards for the design and ease of use of its mobile site.
All games and menus are optimised for mobile, so you bet and play on mobile wherever you are, enjoying the same experience players on a computer have.
But LeoVegas has both an iOS and Android app which gives an even better mobile experience. It' quite rare to find an operator that has both iOS and Android apps available for Indian players, which is another plus for the company.
Just open the app and get straight into it. We love the layout, which is like desktop - intuitive and clean.
There are three ways to get support or help at LeoVegas. The Help Centre is easy to use. Either type your query into the search bar for related articles or choose from various categories to get what you need fast.
There is a tip questions section too, with popular questions to common issues.
Secondly, you can email directly for support. Unlike some sites, LeoVegas doesn't offer a time-frame for responding to you. Over three weeks, we sent three emails with different questions.
The longest we had to wait was 23 hours - one was replied to within six hours, and the other one in nine hours. That's a good overall response time that matches up well with others we have tried the same test with.
But, like most leading betting sites, LeoVegas also has a live chat feature with their 'support lions'. When you select live chat, a pop-up window asks you to enter a question and then finds the best match from their support centre.
However, hit 'Contact Us' and then 'Live chat' in the window and chat in real-time with someone. We didn't have to wait long to be connected on live chat, and the staff were pleasant and quick to respond.
We realise anyone can have an issue with an online company and post a bad review in response. People are more likely to leave negative reviews online than positive ones so that sentiment can be skewed for the worse.
A story that the CEO of LeoVegas was fired after a costly mistake when launching the casino in India went viral in India. An error in deposit wording supposedly gave players a huge amount of free cash and free spins and the offer was pulled after a week.
The story lives on with various versions online, including reports players were scammed. But the original story is fake news and never happened. There are also other versions of the story using a different casino brand name.
It's unclear how these rumours started and got enough traction to be presented as real. The CEO allegedly fired called 'Peter Newsted' doesn't exist and the offer quoted never existed either.
We can only guess it was a (successful) attempt to maliciously harm the company's reputation, perhaps even as a backlash against LeoVegas opening in India.
The truth is, millions of players across the world, and lots in India, bet and play at LeoVegas every day happily and without issue. We can't fault the quality of the games and interface at LeoVegas.
As with all bookmakers and casinos we review and work with, we recommend you understand how bonuses and welcome offers work - particularly regarding wagering requirements - which can be confusing for people new to online gambling.
We honestly review leading betting sites that are open for Indian players. Check them out and claim your welcome offers.
