The Kapil Dev-backed Apne11 platform emailed users to inform them that they are temporarily suspending operations and asking customers to withdraw their balance within 20 days. The email blamed a ‘lack of live matches’ for the decision.
However, it is not clear whether this is a permanent closure, or a temporary one which could see the portal reopen if sports gets back underway soon. As of April 23, no message regarding the closure has been posted on the Apne11 website, but the company’s official Twitter posted this:
As the world hits a corridor of uncertainty in its fight against COVID19, Apne11 is at stumps & we have decided to reflect on our approach as we face the biggest game of the century.

We hope to be back with a new order to play our best innings. Until then, stay home & play safe. pic.twitter.com/AkEawsSsm4
Former Indian cricket captain launched Apne11 back in June 2019, and said at the time: “I am thrilled to be associated with Apne11 as it will present an open opportunity for millions to compete against one another and have the chance to connect with sports on an even deeper level than before.”
With all live sport cancelled across India and most of the world due to coronavirus, some fantasy operators reliant on sport are struggling. Others like MyTeam11 are taking the opportunity to break new ground and offer fresh products.
