GetMega raises US$9 million investment in early-stage funding rounds

Real-money gaming startup GetMega, which was formally launched on Sunday (March 14), has raised US$9 million from Accel India, Nexus Ventures Partner and other angel investors in an early-stage funding round to boost their market presence in Indian gaming ecosystem.

The skill-based, real-money gaming startup has been doing business in India for a couple of years now and has 5 million registered users on their roster. Recently 200 YouTube influencers, including comedian Tanmay Bhatt, participated in a week-long campaign in the lead up to the launch.

The startup was founded by two Bangalore-based entrepreneurs Mayank Kumar and Lokesh Jangid, the former owner of Opinio, which was acquired by health and fitness startup Cure Fit. The US$9 million investment is a massive shot in the arm for the company to move closer to their target of acquiring 50 million users by the end of the year.

GetMega offers multiple esports on its platform including carrom, and real-money games like rummy and poker where the users can play with their friends and have the option to turn on their audio and video to recreate a real-life experience. While the application is now active on Android, the company is planning to offer an iOS version pretty soon.
