As per the updated policy of Google, Android users in 15 countries, including UK and USA, will be able to find real-money gambling applications on Google Play Store from March 1. Earlier, only U.K., Ireland, France, and Brazil were the only countries to have the real-money apps on Google Playstore.
Google Playstore had a clear policy of prohibiting real-money gambling applications to be on their platform but as late as in 2017, they allowed the Android Store to have real-money apps in the aforementioned four countries. But as a good news for the multiple gambling companies around the world, they are set to enact a policy update to expand their availability to 15 countries including the United States.
The Developer Program Policy draft, which is taking effect from March 1, has resulted in the change as Google will pay attention to Sports betting, lotteries, Daily Fantasy Sports in Australia while online casino games, sports betting, government-operated lotteries will come into effect in places like Belgium, Colombia, Canada, Denmark and Finland.
Germany. Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden, and the United States are the other countries where the new policy will be implemented.
However, independent app publishers will only be able to post their gambling apps on Playstore only if they hold proper licenses and follow laws in their jurisdiction among following other requirements.
In other news, Google has also ratified Gamified Loyalty Programs where users may make purchases in order to access supplemental benefits or rewards. Currently, the game apps can’t offer chance-based elements and can’t include variable rewards.
