No Live Sport, No Problem for Sportskeeda as it Marches to Top of Esports News Media

Porush Jain founder and CEO of Sportskeeda hails esports growth

Sportskeeda has today revealed that it has become India's number one esports news portal by obtaining 1.3 crore users within the last two months.

The sports media content platform suffered a huge blow when all major live sport was suspended as part of the coronavirus lockdown, with the company reporting a 70% drop in revenue.

However, Sportskeeda was quick to focus on esports and now claims half a million daily visitors to its esports pages, up from 25,000 in April.

The Nazara Technologies Ltd subsidiary has credited the explosive growth on its esports vertical to identifying and filling existing content gaps in esports media with high-quality content.

Sportskeeda has been covering big esports events and games such as UBG, Free Fire, Fortnite, Valorant, GTA, Call Of Duty, Modern Warfare, NBA, 2K20, and Halo with the promise of more to come.

Commenting on his company's achievements, Porush Jain, Founder, and CEO, Sportskeeda, said "Quick thinking and apt decision making enabled us to harness the Esports growth opportunity successfully. Our strategic approach, innovation, and precision mingled with team-spirit is what truly fast-tracked the growth."

Manish Agarwal, CEO, Nazara Technologies Ltd added: "The young team of Sportskeeda has always kept their users in mind while designing strategies which leads to their success time and again. Nazara has always had a predominant space in Esports with subsidiaries like Nodwin. With Sportskeeda entering the Esports news space we have not only widened our horizon but also established synergy within the subsidiaries."

According to Newzoo, globally, there were approximately 380 million esports viewers in 2018. The number is expected to surge to roughly 557 million by 2021.

India is one of the biggest esports markets, with more than 150 million viewers.

Other esports news today was the announcement that gaming app Loco has entered a content partnership with Fnatic.
