Two bookies were arrested in an online cricket betting racket on November 29. Central zone DCP K Pushpa and cybercrime police apprehended the criminals - Madishetti Prasad, a resident of Vijayanagar Colony in Hanumakonda and Abhai Vilas Rao, a resident of Chhoriya in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra, who were operating under Hanumakonda police station limits. The Police seized a total of Rs 2.5 crore cash, seven mobiles, 43 passbooks of various banks and many ATM cards from their possession.
According to Economic Times, Warangal police commissioner Dr Tarun Joshi mentioned that Madishetti ran a garment business in Hafizpet and fell into this sinkhole in order to make easy money as an alternate earning. He started this racket in 2016 with his friends and collaborated with online betting gangs in Maharashtra where he met his partner in crime, Abhai.
This will be Prasad’s second arrest after being arrested by the Ramachandrapuram police in 2019. Prasad rendered his residence to Hanumakonda in order to continue his business and was visited by Abhai on Monday mornings. The Police took notice of it, caught the accusers together and were taken into custody.
