WI vs BAN 1st Test Predictions & Betting Tips

West Indies and Bangladesh will be locking horns in a 2-Test series starting Thursday, June 16 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound in Antigua. Bangladesh have played a total of four Test series in West Indies, winning one in 2009. West Indies are currently ranked sixth in the WTC 2021-23 points table, while Bangladesh find themselves at the ninth spot.

The second Test of the series will be played from June 24 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet in St Lucia. The two matches will be followed by six white-ball matches (3 T20Is and 3 ODIs).

Mominul Haque will be seen leading the Bangladesh side in the two Tests which will also feature the likes of Shakib Al Hasan,

Tamim Iqbal and Mustafizur Rahman. West Indies, on the other hand, will be led by Kraigg Brathwaite. Jermaine Blackwood, Kyle Mayers and Alzarri Joseph are the other West Indies part of the red-ball series.

As we gear up for the first Test, I have brought to you the best three betting tips from the WI vs BAN 1st Test head-to-head encounter.

WI vs BAN Team Bet:

Mentioned below is the top team bet from the WI vs BAN head-to-head contest.

Bangladesh to win

Bangladesh are surely the more experienced team on the paper. West Indies have only one from their last six Test matches. They won their last Test match against England by 10 wickets but the team playing against Bangladesh will be totally different. Experienced all-rounder Jason Holder and pacer Kemar Roach are not part of the series because of different reasons and that leaves West Indies short of a batter and two bowlers. West Indies have also not included in-form Shamarh Brooks in the Test squad.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, have abundance of experience in Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque who have played 61, 67 and 53 matches respectively. However, the visitors will miss the services of Mushfiqur Rahim who has decided to skip the West Indies tour for Hajj pilgrimage. Mushfiqur Rahim recently became the first batsman from Bangladesh to score 5000 Test runs. The Bangladesh batting line-up will get the services of Litton Das who has scored 2011 runs from 33 Test matches at an average of 36.56. His last three Test innings have seen him score 51, 141 and 88 runs. The Bangladesh pace attack also looks strong in the presence of Mustafizur Rahman, Khaled Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain.

The West Indies bowling unit looks rather inexperienced. Alzarri Joseph who has played 20 Test matches will lead the pace attack which includes uncapped Test player Anderson Phillip and Jayden Seales who has played seven Tests. The onus of the batting unit will be on captain Brathwaite, Jermaine Blackwood and Kyle Mayers. Mayers scored a double hundred in his debut Test match which was against Bangladesh but has failed to score a fifty in the format since March 2021. The road ahead looks difficult for the hosts.

Overall, West Indies have won 12 of their 18 Test matches against Bangladesh who have won four. At home, West Indies have won five out of the eight Tests. Bangladesh have won two Test matches in the country which came back during their 2-0 win during the 2009 tour. Bangladesh have won only one out of their four Test series in West Indies. In their last five Test matches against each other, West Indies have won three, while Bangladesh two.

But despite the history and statistics not in their favour, Bangladesh look the more settled side to win the first Test. Our affiliate partner Pari Match should offer the best odds for West Indies to win the first Test. WI vs BAN Player Bet:

Mominul Haque and Kraigg Brathwaite are my top two player betting tips for the WI vs BAN 1st Test. Have a look at it for reaping the best returns.

Mominul Haque to score high

Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque has played a total of 53 Test matches to score 3525 runs at an average of 38.31. He has a total of 11 hundreds and 15 fifties to his name in the format. Mominul Haque has played a total of eight matches against West Indies and scored 487 runs (including two hundreds) at an average of 32.46. His last three Test innings against West Indies has seen him score 26, 21 and 115 runs.

In his last five Test outings Haque has scored 9, 2, 6, 0 and 0 but the middle-order batsman is expected to bounce back against a weak West Indies bowling line-up. The southpaw has abundance of talent and experience and that was on display when he top-scored in the first innings of the first Test against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui with 88 runs off 244 balls. Bangladesh registered a historic eight wicket in that match. In 2021, he scored 70 runs in the first innings of the Harare Test and also scored a ton against Sri Lanka in Pallekele. Mominul Haque is expected to make a strong comeback and score high in the first innings of the first Test. If you feel the same, head to Pari Match and keep an eye on Mominul Haque for the best odds from the WI vs BAN 1st Test head-to-head encounter.

Kraigg Brathwaite to score high

West Indies Kraigg Brathwaite has played a total of 77 Test matches and scored 4743 runs at an average of 34.12. He has 10 hundreds and 25 fifties to his name. His last five Test innings have seen him score 20*, 17, 56*, 160 and 33.

In his 10 Test matches against Bangladesh, Kraigg Brathwaite has scored 817 runs at an average of 45.38. Three out of his 10 Test hundreds have come against Bangladesh. The right-hander's last five innings against Bangladesh have seen him score 6, 47, 20, 76 and 1 run.

At home, Kraigg Brathwaite averages 93.83 in four matches against Bangladesh. The 29-year-old has scored two hundreds in his last three innings at home against Bangladesh. He scored a double hundred against Bangladesh at Kingstown in 2014.

Overall, Brathwaite's last five Test scores at home are - 20*, 17, 56*, 160 and 33. Kraigg Brathwaite is expected to score in the first innings for West Indies in the first Test. Our affiliate partner Pari Match should offer lucrative odds for Kraigg Brathwaite to score high in the first innings of the Antigua Test. If you feel the same, head to Pari Match and keep an eye on Kraigg Brathwaite for the best odds from the WI vs BAN 1st Test head-to-head encounter.
