I will Score Runs Says a Confident Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan has been recalled in the Indian T20 and the One Day International squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka and Australia in January.

The stylish left-handed batsman has had his share of injuries in this calendar year – fractured finger, bruised eye, swollen neck and lastly a major cut in his knee - which sidelined him from playing in the recently concluded series against West Indies.

Gabbar, as he is popularly known as, is aware of the fact that the journey ahead is not going to be easy for him. Dhawan is back in the Indian T20 and ODI squad after a brief period but during his absence KL Rahul grabbed the opportunity with open arms and has been in imperious touch with his willow in both T20s and in ODIs. However, it did not seem to affect the Delhi opener and is extremely confident of his prowess with the bat.

“Injuries are natural. You’ve got to accept that. It’s fine and I don’t create a big fuss about it. The start-stop thing doesn’t affect me as I haven’t forgotten how to bat. My class is permanent and I will score runs,” Dhawan exclaimed as reported by Sportstar.

He is not perturbed by the selectors headache as he is only looking forward to these upcoming series against Sri Lanka and Australia in January.

“This is an important season. I would like to perform well in the T20s against Sri Lanka but the selection is support staff’s (team management) headache. They will do their job and I will do mine. Looking forward to scoring big runs,” Dhawan added.

Fitness will be crucial for Dhawan and he has been focussing on that so that he can on top of his game in the forthcoming series. He also desires to play in all the three formats of the game and he is working towards his goal.
