Debacle in Australia is past now says Tim Southee

New Zealand cricketer Tim Southee has brushed aside the disappointing Test series in Australia aside and ‘looking forward’ to the upcoming home series against India beginning this Friday.

“It’s about making that adjustment. What’s gone is gone and it was very disappointing, the guys would have learnt from it, and now we’ve got to look forward to the Indian series,” said Tim Southee as reported by stuff.co.nz.

The fast bowler was dropped from the squad for the third and final Test match of the tour against the Trans-Tasman rivals early this year, but the bowler feels it’s in the past now.

Even though he is most likely to play in the first of the five-match T2I series beginning this Friday in Auckland, he is still disappointed that he was overlooked in the Sydney Test. But, Southee admitted that he has moved on.

“It’s disappointing. You’re gutted every time you’re left out. It’s an absolute dream to play for NZ and every time you do miss out it hurts, but you’ve got to respect the decisions and try to help out and give back to the team, even when you’re not playing,” added the Kiwi.

Having played all the 12 T20Is for the black caps last year, he also led the team on nine occasions, owing to Kane Williamson’s unavailability. But, the latter will be making a comeback in the match against India this week. The veteran asserts that he is going to help Williamson in the field, with the experience he possesses.

“I also try to help Kane out as well – it’s nice to have those senior guys (helping you) and Ross (Taylor) was good having captained the side in the past. It’s a different challenge when you captain and it’s something I enjoyed, but Kane’s doing a great job, so I’ll just try to help him out,” added the cricketer
