Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav revealed that he is all geared up to play in limited overs cricket once again. Even though he last played a white-ball match back in February last year, the speedster is leaving no stones unturned to wear the blue jersey once again.
"Who wants to sit outside the ground? I am also human. I am working really hard and am very eager to play white-ball cricket again. "I am thankful to the selectors who gave me the opportunity to play for the country. They are the best judge. I am trying my best to make a comeback to white-ball cricket. For this, whatever I have to do, I will," said Umesh Yadav as reported by The Times of India.
In an interesting revelation, Umesh informed that he was disappointed when left out of the squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup last year. India went to the showpiece event with bowlers like Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar while the veteran was overlooked.
"I got the chance in the 2015 World Cup. I was happy to perform well for my country. I was disappointed when I was not included in the 2019 World Cup team," added the cricketer.
Even though Yadav has been picked for the match Test series in New Zealand, there was no place for him in the ODI or the T20I squad. He is confident to put up a spirited display with the red ball in the upcoming series ‘Down Under.’
"Honestly, I am looking forward to this (playing Tests in New Zealand). I am eager to play red-ball cricket in New Zealand. I have performed well in recent times and I'm in good touch too. My series against Bangladesh was good too. I am pretty positive about my selection for the New Zealand Test series,” concluded the Nagpur-born.
