Leicestershire will go head on with Lancashire in match number 12 of the Vitality T20 Blast 2020 at the Grace Road, in Leicester, on August 28, Saturday.
The first question that comes to our mind right now whether this match will happen as scheduled. I am saying this because six out of the seven matches so far have been abandoned due to wet conditions. The only match that has happened so far was between Lancashire and Durham, which the former won pretty handsomely. We as cricket fans can only pray to the rain gods that they keep away from the Grace Road and let this fixture take place. Until then, I have gathered three of the top bets that you cannot afford to miss from this clash; so, why don’t you take a closer look at them one by one? Let’s get going, shall we?
The Vitality T20 Blast 2020 has gone off to a really slow start as I have already mentioned that the weather has not been kind. The only time the weather allowed a game to happen was when Lancashire Lightning overwhelmed Durham by 27 runs. Lancashire Lightning, quite obviously, were the only team to register two points against their name from the Northern Group, and in fact, in the entire competition so far. In the previous seasons of the Vitality T20 Blast, Lancashire Lightning and Leicestershire Foxes have met 27 times and the former have had the last laugh on 18 occasions. These two sides have collided on 13 occasions at the Grace Road Ground in the past and Lancashire Lightning have reigned supreme on 10 occasions with one match being a tie and the remaining two have gone in favour of the Leicestershire Foxes. In the last 14 head-to-head meetings, Lancashire Lightning have overpowered Leicestershire Foxes on 11 occasions. Therefore Bet Victor have offered odds of 1.60 for a Lancashire Lightning victory and money making cannot be much easier than this!
Lancashire Lightning are of course delighted to have retained their wicket-keeper batsman Alex Davies in their squad. Davies did not take long to prove them right, as he raced to a knock of 65 runs from 50 balls in the very first game of the season for Lancashire Lightning. Davies was the leading run scorer for Lancashire Lightning in the previous season of the Vitality T20 Blast with 307 runs against his name at an average of 38.17 including two half centuries. Davies averages 29.39 in his T20 career and has 1205 runs to his name including nine half centuries. Don’t forget, Davies was the fourth highest run scorer in the league in 2018 season of the Vitality T20 Blast with 534 runs in 15 matches at an average of 53.40. So you can see why Lancashire Lightning depends on him heavily at the top of the order alongside Keaton Jennings. Bet 365 are offering odds of 1.83 for Davies to score at least 23 runs and the statistics and numbers I just mentioned are indicative of a lot more than that!
Leicestershire Foxes are yet to play a game in this season of the Vitality T20 Blast and when they do against the Lancashire Lightning, the host will be counting on the experienced Colin Ackermann. The flamboyant right-hander has been quite productive for Leicestershire Foxes with the bat in the past and yet again his name pops up as the T20 season kickstarted in England. Ackermann has 2454 runs to his tally at an average of 28.53 including 13 half centuries in T20 cricket. In the previous season of the Vitality T20 Blast, Ackermann was the leading run scorer for the Leicestershire Foxes with 342 runs to his name at an average of 28.50 in 13 matches including two half tons. He was the leading run getter for his side in the 2018 season of the Vitality T20 Blast as well with 343 runs at an average of 31.18 with two fifties. The South African batsman averages just above 36.00 when he is playing against Lancashire Lightning. He also averages 24.07 at the Grace Road which is more than what we need him to score to make us win this bet on Saturday. Bet 365 are offering odds of 1.83 for Ackermann to score at least 21 runs and I feel he is going to score more runs than we need.
