We should be considering ourselves lucky enough that we are getting to experience some cricket action as we had to face a more than two-month long hiatus due to the deadly virus.Grenadine Divers and Botanic Garden Rangers will go head to head in match number 6 of the Vincy Premier T10 League. Both the teams have lost their respective opening matches in the league.
Losing 10 wickets in 10 overs doesn’t account for a good batting display, but what if we take out another 24 runs from an innings which yielded just 68 runs. That’s exactly the number of runs Shem Browne scored for the Divers in their opening match, which saw just two batsmen register double digit scores. Browne struck four boundaries and a maximum en-route to his 24-run knock, following which the team collapsed. If Divers have any chance of making a comeback in the next match, the batsman is sure to lead the way. It is not too often that you see a bowler taking four wickets in a T10 match, it has been a rare exception last night, with Geron Wyllie hogging the limelight. And mnd you it was not the tailenders, he dismissed four of the top five batsmen of the Salt Pond Breakers and made their chase even more difficult. Even though the inspiring act could not save them the match, it was a prelude to what we can expect from him in the rest of the league. I have my money on Wyllie when he takes the field this weekend. What about you?
Botanic Garden Rangers
One of the biggest names in the Vincy T10 league, Kesrick Williams was expected to make a mark with the ball. Instead, his batting skills came in handy for the Botanic Garden Rangers in the opening match. He was the only batsman with a double-digit score, having piled up 15 runs, which included a maximum. Although he steered his side to a respectable total, it was not a match winning total. Looking at the rest of the league, his batting ability would come in handy in the middle order. It’s not a commendable bowling display when you give away 73 runs in just 5.5 overs, and there’s hardly any positives from it. But, if we do have to make a pick, Charles’ 1-over spell, which sent Salvan Browne back to the pavilion, was the highlight of the day. The bowler is going to shoulder huge responsibility going into the next game. As far as their bowling unit is concerned, Charles is the man to watch out for.
