SA20 Season 5 starts on Sunday 17 January 2027 with Sunrisers Eastern Cape against Pretoria Capitals in Gqeberha. The final is at Newlands, Cape Town, on Sunday 21 February. Six teams play 34 matches. This page lists each SA20 prediction we publish, with win probabilities and toss calls, plus the fixtures in IST and the squads.
The league published the full fixture list on 23 July 2026. Most matches start at 9:00pm IST. The SA20 auction on Wednesday 7 October has 19 squad places to fill.

SA20 2027 Schedule: Season 5 Fixtures in IST
The SA20 2027 schedule has 30 league matches from 17 January to 14 February, then four playoff matches. Each team plays the other five twice, once at home and once away. There are four Saturday double-headers: 23 and 30 January, and 6 and 13 February.
The league gives start times in South African time, which is 3 hours 30 minutes behind IST. The tables below give every start time in IST: 9:00pm for 24 matches, 7:00pm for the six Sunday matches and 4:30pm for the first game of each double-header. When we publish an SA20 match prediction, it appears in the cards at the top of this page.

SA20 2027 Playoffs
The top four teams go through, and the top two get a second chance:
- Qualifier 1, Tuesday 16 February, Boland Park, Paarl: first plays second, and the winner goes straight to the final.
- Eliminator, Wednesday 17 February, Wanderers, Johannesburg: third plays fourth, and the loser is out.
- Qualifier 2, Friday 19 February, Wanderers, Johannesburg: the loser of Qualifier 1 plays the winner of the Eliminator.
- Final, Sunday 21 February, Newlands, Cape Town: the two qualifier winners meet at 7:00pm IST.
The first three playoff games start at 9:00pm IST. Paarl hosts a playoff match for the first time, and Newlands hosts the final for the second year running and the third time in five seasons.
SA20 Auction 2026: Date, Open Places and Squad Rules
The SA20 player auction for Season 5 is on Wednesday 7 October 2026. The teams named their retained players and pre-signings on 5 August, so only 19 places are left to fill at the auction:
- Joburg Super Kings: six places, and they have yet to name their Wildcard.
- MI Cape Town: six places.
- Pretoria Capitals: five places.
- Sunrisers Eastern Cape: two places.
- Durban’s Super Giants and Paarl Royals: squads already complete.
Each squad has 19 players, including one Wildcard, whose fee does not count against the salary cap. The auction will add players to four of the six squads.

Mitchell Marsh is set to play in the SA20 for the first time. Phil Salt returns to Pretoria Capitals, and Will Jacks moves from the Capitals to MI Cape Town. Joburg Super Kings did not keep their captain, Faf du Plessis, and Albie Morkel replaces Stephen Fleming as their coach. Jonny Bairstow left the Sunrisers, and MI Cape Town released Trent Boult, Rassie van der Dussen and Kieron Pollard.

SA20 2025-26 Recap: Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s Third Title
Sunrisers Eastern Cape won Season 4, beating Pretoria Capitals by six wickets in the final at Newlands on 25 January 2026. Dewald Brevis made 101 off 56 balls in the Capitals’ 158 for 7, and Marco Jansen took 3 for 10. Matthew Breetzke made 68 not out as the Sunrisers chased down 159 with four balls to spare.
It was their fourth final in a row and their third title in four seasons. Quinton de Kock was named Player of the Season, Ottneil Baartman Bowler of the Season and Jordan Hermann Rising Star. The season ran from 26 December 2025 to 25 January 2026 and had 34 matches.
SA20 2025-26 Points Table
The Sunrisers topped the table with 28 points, four of them bonus points. Pretoria Capitals and Paarl Royals both finished on 24, with the Capitals second on net run rate. Joburg Super Kings took the last playoff place.

What Season 4 Showed About the Toss
SA20 captains were split on the toss last season. A toss took place in 33 matches, and the winner chose to bat 17 times and to field 16 times. Sides batting first won 15 matches and chasing sides won 13. There were four no results, one tie, which Joburg Super Kings won in a Super Over, and one match abandoned without a ball bowled. Leaving out the tie, the toss winner won 12 of the 28 matches with a result.

The same six teams as in every season so far: Durban's Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. All six are owned by IPL franchise groups, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape are the defending champions. Each team plays 10 league matches, five of them at home.
When is the SA20 auction for Season 5?
The Season 5 player auction is on Wednesday 7 October 2026. Only 19 places are open: six each for Joburg Super Kings and MI Cape Town, five for Pretoria Capitals and two for Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Durban's Super Giants and Paarl Royals already have full 19-player squads.

A win is worth 4 points and a no result 2, and a big win can earn one bonus point. After the 30 league matches, the top four teams reach the playoffs: first plays second in Qualifier 1, and third plays fourth in the Eliminator.
