T20 Blast Points Table FAQ

How does the T20 Blast 2026 group stage work?

For 2026 the 18 first-class counties are split into three geographical groups of six โ€” Group A, Group B and Group C โ€” reverting from the North/South split used since 2014. Each county plays 12 group matches (the other five in its group home and away, plus two cross-group games).

How many teams qualify for the T20 Blast quarter-finals?

Eight teams reach the quarter-finals: the top two from each of the three groups (six teams) plus the two best third-placed sides across all groups.

How are T20 Blast points calculated?

Teams earn 2 points for a win, 1 point each for a tie or no-result, and 0 for a loss. When teams are level on points, Net Run Rate (NRR) decides the order.

What is Net Run Rate (NRR)?

NRR = (runs scored per over) minus (runs conceded per over) across all completed matches. It is the primary tiebreaker when counties finish level on points, and it also decides the two best third-placed qualifiers. Work out any scenario with our free Net Run Rate Calculator.

Who are the defending T20 Blast champions?

Somerset are the reigning Vitality Blast champions, having beaten Hampshire in the 2025 final at Edgbaston. They begin the 2026 campaign in Group B.
